so Ralph Lauren just got busted again making a model look impossibly skinny. (article  here)

my question: is this really such a bad thing?

i kinda have the same opinion on this as i do about steroids in sports - who gives a shit? sure people are going to kill themselves trying to reach these unattainable goals, but doesn't that just help clean the gene pool of these weak, superficial pieces of shit anyhow? any fattie who's going to kill herself either trying to or giving up because she doesn't look like the girl pictured below just needs to stop sucking my oxygen anyhow. it's just fucking entertainment.

As a "fattie", to this day the designers ridiculous.  If they would open their botoxed plastic surgeoned eyes they would see that a majority of the world are not sized at 0 or 2.  Do they realize how much more money they would make if they took the extra time to not only have the size 0 or 2 wear their clothes but the size 16 18 as well??? Does it really cost that much more for them to produce something that is bigger than what they consider the "norm"?  OK granted they would probably charge extra for the larger sizes to accommodate the production costs but if a customer REALLY wants your product they will purchase it.

Just my two but I don't really care about him because there are many more designers out there that accommodate ALL sizes.

I agree with Bee....
And they don't have to make a special section for size 16 (and sometimes 14). Ok, maybe for like 30+ or something but it kills me when sizes in "regular" sections stop at 12 or 14 so you have to go to big girl clothes which hang and assume I have big boobs also...

Also, I'd think that while there is a little more material re cost, I know we pay a lot more for Rowan's shoes than ours and they get replaced more often. Geoff said smaller things cost more because of the required fine finger dexterity so let's charge more for size 0-2!! Smiley

The advertising rationale must be that anorexic women sell clothes. A person doesn't have to have less than 20% body fat to be attractive. The only thing that bothers me about it is impressionable kids who would try to emulate false stereotypes. If schools still teach health I hope this kind of absurdity is discussed.

The "average" American woman wears a 12-14 and over 50% of us are 5'3 or below.
I am barely 5'2 on a good day and right now, a 14 on a very good day but it has to be a 14 petite. Plus sized clothes make me look like I am a 12-year old trying to wear my big auntie's clothes. Too much room in the butt and gut.
The only things that really fit me at this weight are the stretchy Chico's Traveller's line. My choices are: get bigger and fit into Plus sizes or lose weight to get down to my reasonable size (8-10). The latter is my preference but that shit gets harder every year past 40 Wink

first i should clarify that i use the term "fattie" while i try to look at my penis which is currently eclipsed by the mass of beer and burgers known as my stomach. i do not hold women to a double standard here.

i believe that you should love yourself as you are. if you hate yourself because you are so weak-willed as to think you are defiined by a jackass like Ralph Lauren's opinion of what is "beauty" and decide to kill yourself trying to look like that, go right ahead. all you're doing is clearing up the gene pool.

It's so hard. I do love myself the way I am and feel everyone else should, too. Then again I'm about 40 pounds overweight and that is not healthy so am I wrongly loving myself the way I am?

It's a hard thing-love yourself how you are but also love yourself to be healthy and live a good long life...

there's nothing wrong with wanting to be healthy. you'll never hear me bash anyone trying to better themselves. there's a BIG difference between health and vanity.

I know exactly what you mean.  According to the "charts" I am 100lbs overweight for my height.  I know a few people who are not at big as me who have had either gastric bypass or the lap band.  I have seen them go from miserable and fat to miserable and skinny.  I have two doctors that are against the surgeries and one who every time he sees me "suggests" it.  I am overweight yes but I am in good health.  I don't smoke, don't have diabetes, and don't have high blood pressure.  I don't do the gym thing but I walk everywhere.  I carry kids and bags when I shop so there is my weight lifting lol.    Yes I could stand to lose a lot of weight but I ultimately love me for who I am inside and out.  I may not eat perfect all the time but I eat pretty well.  I will continue to eat all the good food, drop out the bad and do my moderate exercise.  I don't lose or gain and if I do it is not much either way.  I don't want to be a 4 maybe a 18 would be nice - lol.

To answer the original question:

No...there's nothing 'wrong' with it, it just doesn't make for great fapping material.

Urban dictionary aside, it's actually "WENUS": "Weekly Estimated Net Usage System (or Statistics, depending on the episode)"
