I really like this.

Not as snarky as Spiderman (I do love Spiderman, sans Jazz Hands, Sam I am), not as H*E*R*O as the dude with the big Shield. He's flawed, he caused a whole city to die, and he has issues. There is way more back story with the rings than I ever originally thought.

Thanks for turning me on to it, Felix!

What other comic bookery did I miss out on?

The story I got him reading is much more recent, but what you're referring to, Iceman, is very much a part of the backstory and the guilt Hal Jordan has to deal with.

You mentioned "the guy with the Shield", Geoff -- I've been raving about the phenomenal work writer Ed Brubaker has done on Captain America, turning him into a more fully-developed character and less of an archtype/stereotype. If you're up for it, I'll bring you the first volume of Brubaker's Cap run. In my mind, it's right up there with Green Lantern in term of quality over the last 5 years.

Have you gotten into the Blackest Night story line?  3 issues in, and I am still on the fence about it, I think...

Read the one that you got on Free Comic Book Day and it looked  like a good premise, but DC has been known to fuck those up from time to time. I am with Geoff I will wait for the (10) TPB (s).

Gotta give it up for Ross.  He really is freakishly, nonsensically, fast.

Ross, I need to get to you the trades for the stories leading up to Blackest Night, the ones that Geoff has already read. I have very little doubt that what's been crafted in those will sell you on the whole thing.
