I am such a nerd, I am now viewing my Daughter's skillsets as a proficiencies list in some rpg.
Lately, Rowan's been eating at table with Jen and I. High chair, given food on a napkin or plate, and allowed to eat.
She gets thirsty. I was in the practice of either holding the cup and gently tipping it, which spills water down her shirt, or Jen would take the straw, thumb-lock in some fluid, and deposit it into her mouth, which looks birdish and weird, and spills water down her shirt.
Tonight, I poured a cup of water and ice, sat down on the floor with her, and showed her three times what to do. She tried to eat the straw, then she tried to thumb-lock it herself, then I made a big lip-pursey sucky noise, and she followed suit.
She now has
straw-wielding
as well as
torso-beg object deposit and retrieval level 1 crawling foot first couch-dismount bunny snuggle piercing shriek resistance to math Power Word Boobie Power Word Up Power Word Dada Power Word Mama Power Word YeaYea Power Word Puppiiiii Song of Silliness
Plus when she sleeps, she throws her arms into a defensive stance that forces her parents to save vs. cuteness or suffer uncontrollable aw.
