Did you guys decide on a location yet?

We have but are just waiting for the final confirmation and time. I am hoping to know today or this week!

Can you PM me the tentative location?

We are so close to being able to tell you that it should be at Wall Street some place downtown with great bars and restaurants and space but I can't do it officially yet!

It is official and has been announced on SomaCow...

The Cure for the Run will be held at Wall Street (downtown Orlando) on August 22nd!

The Run starts at 5 PM and runners/participants should be there at 4 for registration and pre-libations.

We are getting more details on food/drink specials and will post them as they are available Smiley

I thought of using the time honored tradition of welcoming newbies, with the classic My Big greeting but i decided against it.

Ice, joe is far less of a newbie than you are.

Jen, you are fucking awesome.

Folks, tell anyone and everyone they need to be a part of this.

Hi!  So, I'm a little unclear on how this actually works.  Is participation ("running") open to anyone or just show members?  What exactly are the options for non-show members, like, what does "sponsorship" mean, exactly?

All the SomaCow staff and talent will be running.

Everyone else in the world is invited to come and run.

Every runner should get as many people to sponsor him/her as possible. For example, Cote de Pablo might agree to sponsor me by donating $1 for every meter that I run (up to 50 meters).
With sponsors, you run, they pay.

Anyone (runners, sponsors or otherwise) can make straight donations to the charity (Rock for Hunger).

A handy form for recording your sponsors and/or donations will be posted in this thread, and on one or more of our websites soon, I predict.

Before the race, submit your donation, and/or the money from your sponsors, or have them contribute directly.

Details on how to get the money to the charity will also be posted soon.

**Edited to correct WHEN all monies should be submitted, as specified on the sponsorship/donation forms

The sponsorship forms...
Yes in fact J I believe you have a copy of them. It would be awesome if you could post them here since we are not able to at this time? Thanks!

thank you J! We were out at a family function.

And yes, all monies must be collected and turned in by the event. (Check to SomaCow Media with subject related to race/charity, cash, or paypal to somacow@gmail.com)
If you are doing the x50 (meaning you are going to race many times and want people to pay you per run through) you just tell them "I'll run it 10 times" and they pay you per that. If you run less, you are a douche.

Any other questions please let us know! This is our first charity and our first time doing anything run related Smiley

Can anyone recommend a hotel handy to the event?

Good chance the occupants will be a little drunk to drive too far.

We would also rather spend money on booze than the hotel, but that is not to stay we want to stay in a fleabag either.

The Travelodge is within walking distance $50* , the rooms are meh.  There use to be a great breakfast diner next door.

A cheap taxi ride away is the Sheraton $120*  and the Marriott $90* (you could walk to the Marriott but I wouldn't recommend it)  Downtown has/had  bicycle/rickshaw/taxis  that work on tips

I believe there is a new Embassy Suites that is the closest (about 2 blocks)  $110*

I've stayed in the first 3.  They are listed in order of cleanliness.  We usually use the Travelodge.  As you said, the money saved can be better spent elsewhere.

*prices are estimates
