So, I'm reading The Iliad and The Odyssey, Homer's great epic Greek poems.
This is a fairly academic undertaking, in my mind, because it is so unusual these days for people
to read anything that is not dialogue in a video game or is written by Nicolas Sparks.

Now, I'm familiarizing myself with The Odyssey, instead of just jumping in head first, and I
often begin such research with Wikipedia before moving on to more substantial references.

As I'm reading the section that explains the influence of Near Eastern literature on Homer's works,
I come across this Wiki-gem:

"West argues that the similarity of Odysseus' and Gilgamesh's journeys to the edges of the earth are the result of the influence of the Gilgamesh epic upon the Odyssey.odysseus fucks every gurl he sees"

The contrast and irony almost gave me whiplash!
Academia at its finest! How can you NOT love the Wiki?!

One of the best examples of quality reading in my opinion would be "Rant" by Chuck Palahniuk.  He wrote Fight Club.  I think this book is even better.
