According to this.  Are there still people looking forward to this franchise?  Nintendo once stated that the next Zelda would not be out until it was perfect.
Will it properly use the Wii-mote?  Or will it go retro on the controls?

I thought Twilight Princess on the Wii was pretty damn near perfect.  Wouldn't mind old controls but they really nailed the nunchuck/wiimote combo on TP.

I heard that they are changing a lot of things for the newest.

Either way, i'm excited.

Sure, Twilight Princess was a great Gamecube game.

Now I'm just hoping for a Wii Zelda game where you're not fighting Ganondorf.  Maybe they can be truly daring and not give you a boomerang.  Or REVOLUTIONARY and not give you a hookshot.

Nah.  It'll probably just be an up-resed Ocarina of Time.

I just think it's a real problem that Nintendo's going to face as they try to make Zelda more relevant in the scheme of games like Darksiders and Assassin's Creed 2.  Because honestly, Nintendo can get away with Bowser being the primary antagonist in every Mario game due to the obvious lighthearted nature of the franchise.  With Zelda getting more and more "dark" and "serious", Ganondorf coming up in every game just feels totally ridiculous and out of place for me.

I like it when they imply Ganon is a pawn of darker forces, but let's be honest...

The WORST received franchise games are found when they tinker with the Nemesis. Look at the krab lizard of super mario 2, or the floating ninja gaidenesque chandelier monstrosity of Zelda II.

Any new ground they may or may not have explored has been buried by sales figures and fan mockery.

I think it's time for nintendo et al to create a new pantheon. Alundra, chrono trigger, secret of evermore, few things that did not port from 8 bit seem to last. We have this infinite horizon limited by a very finite idea garden.

Eh... They'll figure it out. I lose my point when I type on this phone overlong.

I don't know if it's a finite idea garden as much as it is an extremely compelling infinite money garden.  Nintendo makes money by pandering.  Series like Super Smash Bros. wouldn't exist if they weren't cognizant that people will buy anything with Mario and Zelda slapped on it.

The only outlier in this situation is Metroid, which took a big shift in both it's handheld games on the GBA and it's 3D Metroid Prime series on the Gamecube.  With Metroid: The Other M coming out, it looks like Nintendo is still looking to take chances with the series.

All I can hope for is that Nintendo realizes that while it doesn't need the hardcore fans to survive monetarily, they could throw us a bone and actually throw a tiny bit of innovation into the Zelda franchise.  You can stick to a formula and still innovate in small but game changing ways, like with the Mario RPG games on the DS.  Bowser's Inside Story was simply brilliant and still had the silly cast of characters that I honestly don't care too much for at this point.

reinventing Metroid on the SNES with Ridley around in stead of Mother Brain kinda was saddening. Id love to see them bring Mother Brain back and have all the metroids back as well, since supposedly they are all dead (since I last played they were atleast.)

As for Zelda, Id like to see part of a new zelda focus more on how Ganondorf went became the well known Villain we love to hate and shoot silver arrows at. I want to see a side story of where Ganon is growing up into the person he is now.

So there is indeed a lot of interest in the franchise.  I like that!
