A band getting some real pop in the mainstream, finally. I first heard this song on a Grey's Anatomy.

This is the Acoustic Version:

Jen says it reminds her of The Lightning Seeds. I think it's Pulp meets Coldplay, and it's brilliant good heartfelt drunk love mourn.

Enjoy! Maybe we will feature them on a ComaSow soon.

A fine example of the great music they use in Grey's.  I frequently find myself rewinding that show just to re-listen to the background music.  Hope you can do a show with their music.  Foy Vance is another musician I've heard on Grey's that you might want to look into.

These guys are fantastic already seen them twice both times they came through DC.  It's amazing the growth they've had, first time was at Black Cat which holds 700 and then 930 Club which can handle about 1200, and both were sold out almost instantly.  If you can check out some of their live performances on Conan and Carson Daly, good stuff.

Yes, I think the first time I caught them was on Conan. He would have some really different musical acts on his show. That is one of the many things I am going to miss about his show.

Then a few months later I caught them on The DC AM thedcam.com and they sounded really familiar. I had forgotten that they were on Conan once so I had to do some googling to found out who they were. I ended up on their wiki page and they have a very interesting story.

I guess the lead singer was writing a novel and then mid way realized it would work better as a series of songs. I don't know. It's kind of weird but an interesting read none the less.

Oh yeah, I'm ready for the Airbourne Toxic Event ComaSow episode.

: o (

They said, "No",

Well, here:

Thank you for your email and interest.  Unfortunately, The Airborne Toxic Event (or any artist that is signed to a record deal or publishing deal) can not grant permission for the use of their music to be synced in a film, TV show, commercial, podcast, etc (anything)... without the permission of the Record Label and the Publisher.

There are hundreds of homemade non commercial films, youtube clips, etc... using the band’s music without the permission of the Record Label or Publisher.  The band does not have a problem with these.  It is your choice to move forward.  In no way can The Airborne Toxic Event formally grant you permission.

I hope that clarifies the situation,

Thanks,

-Pete

I believe the person writing the letter was saying that you are free to do it but don't have official endorsement. Between the lines I think they were saying to go for it. Any exposure for a band is good within these confines. Have you ever heard of an internet radio show being sued for not having official permission to play an artist. I think the only likely possibility, if any, would be a possible cease and desist order. I read about them in a magazine and the writer gave the same opinion as you regarding Coldplay, specifically the "Yellow" era.

I think that line was put in there just to be a dick.

I don't think that SomaCow Media would be considered "Non Commercial" would it?

Good call, 'Fa. It would be awesome to be the first, wouldn't it?

Notice it said "the BAND does not have a problem with these". Oh, yeah? Who is it that has the army of blood-thirsty lawyers on retainer again, the band or the label?

Gotta give it up for Ross.  He really is freakishly, nonsensically, fast.

(1) I am socialyl awkward and am not sure what goes here, so, I'll use an old standard.
(2) The recording industry sucks.  We signed a contract and therefore, do not own our music.
(3) People still use the music in what some (the label) would consider "illegal" ways.
(4) We (the band) think this is fucking awesome.  Seriously.
(5) We would love for you to feature our music in your show.  HOWEVER, see number one.  We don't own the music anymore.  The label does.
(6) I am basically saying, WE the band give you permission and think it is awesome, but officially, we are not allowed.  Don't hate us for saying know, hate the recording industry for being shitheads.  AGAIN, Tommy said you could borrow his playstation 3 for the weekend, but Tommy's mom said no.  Tommy's mom is a bitch.
(7) Thanks
